Christmas at CUA
The Catholic University of America celebrated the Christmas season with several events on Friday, Dec. 5. In the afternoon, CUA's religious in residence sang carols with Red (the University's mascot) in celebration of Advent. That evening, the CUA community gathered with President and Mrs. Garvey in the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center for the annual Light the Season event featuring singing, a live Nativity, treats, and the lighting of the Christmas tree. Also that evening, the 25th annual Christmas Concert for Charity was held at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Sponsored jointly by the University and the Basilica, the concert featured the CUA Chamber Choir, University Singers, University Chorus, and the CUA Symphony Orchestra. A freewill offering was taken for the Holy Family Hospital of Bethlehem Foundation, which raises money to support a highly regarded infant and maternity hospital located 500 yards from the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem.
