Professor Bunce’s Halloween Chemistry Class

Award-winning chemistry Professor Diane Bunce invited undergraduate chemistry students to come to class on Oct. 31 disguised as their favorite chemical element or compound, like potassium or calcium carbonate. One by one, students displayed their costumes, and based on their knowledge of the periodic table, their classmates tried to identify the element in disguise. Begun by Bunce in 1985, the chemical masquerade takes place annually in conjunction with National Chemistry Week and Halloween. (Photos by Ed Pfueller)
